Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the query and supplies the result. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics providers use them to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. A browser can reject cookies through its settings, although blocking them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Detecting and correcting technical faults
- Maintaining site operation, performance, and speed
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing a search query to the selected partner service
- Measuring which content visitors use and where improvements are needed
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Indiana County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Indiana County Jail, the courts, the Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, and the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Public Website. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure choices, so review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Indiana County offices, Pennsylvania court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave our pages, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and site performance
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for the information we hold. No internet system is entirely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection laws may provide additional rights based on where you live. Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§ 67.101-67.3104, governs requests to public agencies rather than private-site visitor data, while Pennsylvania criminal-history dissemination is governed by 18 Pa.C.S. Chapter 91. For data held by us, you may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of personal information we hold
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Request a copy of personal information maintained about you
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. A new version becomes available on this page with its current effective date.
